| Adhesives and solvents can not be used because polyethylene is nonpolar and has a high resistance to solvents. Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) are feasible if the surface is flame treated or corona treated, however the bond is relatively weak.It is possible to bond these plastics using processes similar to metal welding techniques. Industrial Plastics & Paints technicians use Hot Air or Extrusion Welding tools to repair or assemble Polyethylene, Polypropylene and ABS plastics although the latter can be effectively solvent welded as well. |

Spin Welding is the process of Friction Welding fittings to Containers or Tanks with high RPM. When properly done the fitting becomes integral with the Container. The fitting and the container must be molded of compatible materials. Our fittings are molded from a high molecular weight Low Density Polyethylene with additives for good adhesion and toughness.Our Technicians can install fittings in the most of the tanks we sell, except fuel tanks. We can also install new fittings in a used tank as long as it is clean and has not be used to store any volatile substances or sewage.
