TEST AREA:
Always prepare a test patch in an inconspicuous area prior to full application. This will indicate the
performance and suitability of the product for the substrate.
PREPARATION:
Project surfaces must be dry and warm; above 50°F (10°C). STRIPEX® may harm bare metal or
painted surfaces. Pre-wet vegetation. Direct exposure to STRIPEX® may burn foliage but rinsing residue will not harm plants or roots.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
Apply with a nylon brush or roller. Evenly and liberally saturate wood surface. Apply vertically from bottom to top. Do not allow STRIPEX® to dry on wood. Apply in the shade. Wait: Allow STRIPEX® to soften or dissolve the coating. Most applications will require a waiting period of approximately 15 to 30 minutes. The coating residue should easily rinse off when ready. Scrub lightly where required - use stiff brush or floor broom to help remove residue. Work in the direction of grain to minimize "grain raising" on wood surface.
Rinse wood in direction of grain with water; using a garden hose or a 500-1200 PSI power washer.
A power washer will eliminate the need for scrubbing.
COVERAGE:
100 to 150 sq. ft/ 1 US gallon - 1.8 sq. m to 4 sq. m / L, depending on surface type.
PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid ingestion or contact with skin or eyes. Wear personal protective equipment. When spraying wear NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator. Project surfaces are extremely slippery after application.
FIRST AID:
In case of skin or eye contact flush with water for 30 minutes. If swallowed give fruit juice. Get medical attention.
DISPOSAL:
Dispose remaining product in accordance with applicable environmental regulations. Neutralize with diluted acid (Natural Wood Brightener™) or citric acid (vinegar).
CONTRACTORS HINTS:
STRIPEX® will strip all semi-transparent oil based wood-stains. For new, or wood-stains in good condition stains use STRIPEX® straight. Some dilution with water for heavily weathered stains and for spraying is possible. For thick, or pigmented stains use STRIPEX®-L and for paints use RemovALL 220.
Heavily weathered wood surfaces may look fibrous after rinsing STRIPEX®. Immediately brushing along the wood grain helps remove the loose fiber. Wood rich in tannin may darken during restoration. This is temporary. If additional brightening is required use Natural Wood Brightener™ or Industrial Blonding Agent™.
Using STRIPEX® to restore wood before a coat of stain or paint will help even penetration. Use Stain Prep™ to neutralize the surface prior to applying any stains. The result will be a longer lasting, even and natural looking finish. Clean equipment with water and a small amount of mild liquid detergent.
